Sharing the same spirit.

Therefore, if there is any encouragement in your union with Christ, any comfort in his love, any fellowship in the Spirit, any tender affection, 2 fill me with joy by having the same mindset, the same love, united in soul and thought. 3 Do nothing out of selfishness or vanity; rather, with humility, consider others superior to yourselves. 4 Each one must look out not only for their own interests but also for the interests of others. 5 Your attitude should be like that of Christ Jesus, Philippians 2:1-5
Sharing in the same spirit
In the Bible, "sharing in the same spirit" (or "united in the same spirit") refers to a deep connection, harmony, and shared purpose among believers, driven by the Holy Spirit. It is not about thinking exactly alike on everything but rather being aligned with God's will. This concept manifests in three main areas:
Unity in mission
Unity in mission: The Apostle Paul often uses this phrase to encourage churches to work together (such as in preaching the gospel) without division or selfishness, sharing a common goal. Fellowship (Koinonia): This describes a shared participation in the life and love of Christ, where the church functions as a body in which everyone supports one another. The same mindset as Jesus: In key passages like Philippians 2:1-5, "sharing in the same spirit" is intimately linked to humility. It involves placing the needs of others above one's own, imitating Jesus's attitude of service and sacrifice.
A victorious spirit in the community
There are many leaders in this world; a very small number have become leaders through great effort and personal growth, but the majority have had to do nothing to achieve leadership—life simply rewarded them by making them the child of a president, a prominent politician, a famous artist, a famous actor or actress, or a wealthy family. It must also be added that being chosen, forgiven, saved, washed and purified by the Blood of Christ, sealed by the Holy Spirit, and made a child of God transforms you—from that moment on—into a leader within the community; you are special because God, in His grace, willed it so. As leaders (children of God), we are called to maintain a victorious spirit, where love is our primary tool. For a soccer team, being of "one spirit" requires constant work, both on and off the field. Success depends not only on physical talent but also on a solid mindset and group culture. In other words, for the believer in Christ, living in community is not optional; it is mandatory. We are a community that lives in unity of spirit. Adapting soccer team principles to the church environment is an excellent strategy for renewing the enthusiasm and commitment of leaders and volunteers. Just as in sports, a "victorious spirit" in the church translates into a community that is united, motivated, and focused on its spiritual mission.
Renewing enthusiasm and commitment
It is therefore necessary to implement certain soccer-style dynamics within the church—such as offering active mentorship and pastoral counseling to prevent burnout among servers and leaders. My role is to constantly remind everyone of the "purpose" behind each ministry so that routine does not extinguish the initial enthusiasm—much like in soccer, where we Are learning from Mistakes addressing shortcomings in events or activities with grace and a spirit of improvement, avoiding blame or finger-pointing.
When leaders are inspired by example, they maintain peace in conflicts and encourage others. It's essential to ensure that every volunteer (ushers, musicians, teachers) knows exactly what their task is to avoid frustration. We should create spaces for fellowship, such as organizing retreats, dinners, or recreational outings exclusively for volunteers, strengthening friendships outside of service hours.
Sharing small victories
In a victorious spirit, we publicly share "small victories," such as lives transformed or goals achieved in the community. In this dynamic, we should periodically provide practical and spiritual tools so that volunteers feel confident in their roles, recognizing the efforts of volunteers publicly or with detailed thank-you notes.
The power of unity
Being together in one spirit (unity) produces profound, visible, and measurable results in any organization, especially among church volunteers. When a team shares the same vision, values, and purpose, it transforms from individual effort into a collective movement. In our church, we are immersed in a prayer campaign for the church's vision, but first, we work with the heart of each member so they can see and feel what God is doing. Working in the same spirit produces a multiplier effect. Work is more productive with less individual effort; burdens become lighter because everyone is pulling in the same direction. Gossip, rivalries, and ministerial jealousy disappear, creating a safe environment where people enjoy serving. I know from experience that people don't leave teams where they feel united and valued; unity generates an unbreakable sense of belonging. This mutual trust allows brothers and sisters with potential to step forward without fear of criticism. In the same spirit, the unity of the servants is the best introduction for newcomers; love and harmony are felt from the moment they walk in. When we are all in the same spirit, coordination flows naturally and events go well, even in the face of unforeseen circumstances. This unified atmosphere is like a pleasant fragrance, attracting more people who desire to experience that same peace and connection. Historically and biblically, the greatest revivals and miracles occur when the community is united in one place. Sunday service ceases to be a routine task and becomes a source of joy and spiritual inspiration.
God is at work in our midst
As I look back on this past week, I am deeply reminded of how beautifully this church cares for one another. Whether it was seeing our youth volunteers participating in the worship service, our children's ministry sharing with love and tenderness, or the warm fellowship after Sunday's service, God is clearly at work in our midst.
In the middle of your busy week, remember that you are not walking alone. Your joys are celebrated, and your burdens are shared. Let's continue to hold each other close in prayer and look for ways to extend Christ's grace to our neighbors. Amen.
Compartiendo un mismo espíritu
2 Por tanto, si sienten algún estímulo en su unión con Cristo, algún consuelo en su amor, algún compañerismo en el Espíritu, algún afecto entrañable, 2 llénenme de alegría teniendo un mismo parecer, un mismo amor, unidos en alma y pensamiento.
3 No hagan nada por egoísmo o vanidad; más bien, con humildad consideren a los demás como superiores a ustedes mismos. 4 Cada uno debe velar no solo por sus propios intereses, sino también por los intereses de los demás.

En la Biblia, “compartir en un mismo espíritu” o “estar unidos en un mismo espíritu” hace referencia a una conexión profunda, armonía y propósito compartido entre los creyentes, impulsados por el Espíritu Santo. No se trata de pensar exactamente igual en todo, sino de estar alineados con la voluntad de Dios.
Este concepto se manifiesta en tres áreas principales:
Unidad en la misión
El apóstol Pablo utiliza esta idea a menudo para animar a las iglesias a trabajar juntas, como en la predicación del evangelio, sin divisiones ni egoísmos, teniendo una misma meta.
Comunión — Koinonía
La comunión describe la participación conjunta en la vida y el amor de Cristo, donde la iglesia funciona como un cuerpo en el cual todos se apoyan mutuamente.
El mismo sentir de Jesús
En pasajes clave como Filipenses 2:1-5, “compartir en el mismo espíritu” está íntimamente ligado a la humildad. Se trata de poner las necesidades de los demás por encima de las propias, imitando la actitud de servicio y sacrificio de Jesús.
Un espíritu victorioso en la comunidad
En este mundo hay muchos líderes. Algunos, muy pocos, han logrado ser líderes a través de mucho esfuerzo y superación, pero la mayoría, para llegar a ser líderes, no han tenido que hacer nada; simplemente la vida los ha premiado con ser hijos de un presidente, de un político prominente, de un artista famoso, de un actor o actriz reconocidos, o de una familia rica.
Ahora bien, también hay que añadir que el haber sido escogidos, perdonados, salvados, lavados y purificados por la sangre de Cristo, sellados por el Espíritu Santo y hechos hijos de Dios, desde ese momento nos convierte en líderes frente a la comunidad. Somos especiales porque Dios, en su gracia, así lo quiso.
Como líderes que somos, hijos de Dios, estamos llamados a mantener un espíritu victorioso, donde amar es nuestra principal herramienta.
Para un equipo de fútbol, estar en un mismo espíritu requiere trabajar de forma constante tanto dentro como fuera de la cancha. El éxito no depende solo del talento físico, sino también de una estructura mental y una cultura de grupo sólidas.
Esto significa que, para el creyente en Cristo, vivir en comunidad no es una opción; es algo necesario. Somos una comunidad que vive en un mismo espíritu.
Adaptar los principios de un equipo de fútbol al entorno de una iglesia es una excelente estrategia para renovar el entusiasmo y el compromiso de los líderes y voluntarios. Al igual que en el deporte, el “espíritu victorioso” en la iglesia se traduce en una comunidad unida, motivada y enfocada en su misión espiritual.
Renovar el entusiasmo y el compromiso
Es necesario que apliquemos algunas dinámicas del fútbol en la iglesia, como ofrecer mentoría y consejería pastoral activa para prevenir el “burnout” o desgaste de los servidores y líderes.
Es mi papel recordar constantemente el “para qué” de cada ministerio, para que la rutina no apague el entusiasmo inicial. Así como en el fútbol, también debemos aprender de los errores, tratando las fallas en eventos o actividades con gracia y espíritu de mejora, evitando la culpa o los señalamientos.
Cuando los líderes inspiramos con el ejemplo, mantenemos la paz en los conflictos y animamos a los demás. Es importante asegurarnos de que cada voluntario —ujieres, músicos, maestros y servidores— sepa exactamente cuál es su tarea para evitar frustraciones.
También debemos crear espacios de comunión, como retiros, cenas o salidas recreativas exclusivas para los servidores, fortaleciendo la amistad fuera de las horas de servicio.
Compartiendo las pequeñas victorias
En un espíritu victorioso, compartimos públicamente las “pequeñas victorias”, como vidas transformadas o metas alcanzadas en la comunidad.
En esta dinámica, debemos brindar herramientas prácticas y espirituales periódicamente para que los voluntarios se sientan seguros en sus áreas, reconociendo el esfuerzo de los servidores de manera pública o con notas de agradecimiento detalladas.
El poder de la unidad
Estar juntos en un mismo espíritu, en unidad, produce resultados profundos, visibles y medibles en cualquier organización, especialmente entre los voluntarios de una iglesia.
Cuando el equipo comparte la misma visión, los mismos valores y el mismo propósito, se pasa de un esfuerzo individual a un movimiento colectivo.
En nuestra iglesia estamos sumergidos en una campaña de oración por la visión de la iglesia, pero primero estamos trabajando con el corazón de cada hermano, para que cada uno pueda ver y sentir lo que Dios está haciendo.
Trabajar en un mismo espíritu produce un efecto multiplicador. El trabajo rinde más con menos esfuerzo individual; las cargas se vuelven más ligeras porque todos empujan en la misma dirección.
Desaparecen los chismes, las rivalidades y los celos ministeriales, creando un ambiente seguro donde la gente disfruta servir.
Por experiencia sé que las personas no abandonan los equipos donde se sienten unidas y valoradas; la unidad genera un sentido de pertenencia indestructible. Esta confianza mutua permite que los hermanos y hermanas con potencial den un paso al frente sin miedo a ser criticados.
Una carta de presentación para los nuevos
En un mismo espíritu, la unidad de los servidores es la mejor carta de presentación para las personas nuevas. El amor y la armonía se perciben desde la entrada.
Cuando todos estamos en el mismo espíritu, la coordinación fluye de manera natural y los eventos salen bien, incluso ante los imprevistos.
Este ambiente unificado es como un agradable perfume que atrae a más personas que desean experimentar esa misma paz y conexión.
Histórica y bíblicamente, los mayores avivamientos y milagros ocurren cuando la comunidad está unánime en un solo lugar. El servicio dominical deja de ser una tarea rutinaria y se convierte en una fuente de alegría e inspiración espiritual.
Dios está obrando en medio de nosotros
Al mirar hacia atrás esta semana pasada, recuerdo profundamente lo hermosa que es esta iglesia al cuidarse unos a otros. Ya sea al ver a nuestros jóvenes voluntarios participando en el servicio de adoración, nuestro ministerio de niños compartiendo con amor y ternura, o la cálida comunión después del servicio del domingo, Dios claramente está obrando en medio de nosotros.
En medio de tu semana ocupada, recuerda que no estás caminando solo. Tus alegrías son celebradas y tus cargas son compartidas.
Sigamos manteniéndonos cerca unos de otros en oración y buscando maneras de extender la gracia de Cristo a nuestros vecinos.
